DENIZENS OF SERETH
HUMANS
The humans of Sereth have many cultures and are part of many nations. It is speculated that humans first came into Sereth around 1157 S.E. but it is unclear as they were first discovered on the small continent of Deras. Many Barguran scholars believe they were born of an anomaly on the that continent and because of their innate power, were able to take over the small continent quickly.
Throughout the ages humans have shown an impressive ability to adapt to the different regions of Sereth, usually inhabited by just one type of species. Humans brought a never before seen ability to adjust to any environment and even meld with other species and their cultures. This quickly caught the attention of the elder spirits, who began to openly commune with select humans whose minds were advanced enough to speak with them.
With the aid of the spirits, humans became enlightened, even able to harness abilities and powers previously only accessible to the Sivian and some Barguran. Great cities were erected as tribes and caravans became nations and empires. As years turned centuries, then centuries to ages, humans made up the majority of the population of Sereth.
Hostilities arose between the humans and Bargurans - who were previously the predominant species of Sereth - usually over land or political matters. Many wars were fought between the two, most of the time leading to Araurans and even the spirits themselves having to become involved.
Humans are the most balanced species in all of Sereth, able to fight at close to the physical strength of the Barguran, and weird spiritual abilities and magics close to the level of the Sivian. However, this also makes them more susceptible to curses and influence as well. The spirits first saw the human propensity to be controlled and manipulated, seeing that the Barguran were already discovering how to do so. So the elder spirits intervened to help them fortify their minds and souls.
Now, with the veil fading, the spirits have all but lost their ability to communicate with the humans - especially with The Vanishing of Araura.
