The world of Sereth is home to many types of monsters, some common and some spoken of only in myth. The more powerful of these creatures are called Vargo, terrifying monsters of varying types that are seemingly imbued with shadow magic.

Contractors and even specialized hunters have a hard time when battling a Vargo. If encountering a Vargo unprepared in the wild, it could spell doom for even the most skilled of hunters. Lately, reports of several Vargo appearing in the remote regions of the Darklands has given rise to the speculation that the Vargo are actually drawing power from The Curse. This has led to people going missing, settlements being wiped out and areas having to be evacuated as the hunters have been unable to kill them all.

The Kazegan people were the most skilled at destroying Vargo. Before the Great Kazegan War that nearly sent the Kazegan people into extinction, nations would contract teams from Kazogaru highly skilled in shadow magic to deal with their Vargo problems. However, to few of them remain to aid in the current swell of the Vargo population.

What connection could the elimination of the Kazegan people and the rise of the Vargo have?
